Cablecom cracking down on dreambox owners?

I saw this story in 20mins [1] on the train this morning, and was wondering if anyone has had problems using the dreambox to view cablecom channels?

Thanks

Re: Cablecom cracking down on dreambox owners?

As I understood it, it's still a symmetric encryption scheme - while the colleagues at work assumed that the keys cannot be read out from one of the cards, they are not personalized and if a key "leaks" out, it can be used.

People should just ask themselves if the TV-program is worth the money (well, any money, really) and decide accordingly.

Doesn't matter who you have working on it, they changed the master key, which makes it more difficult than before for people to crack it. By my reckoning it'll be christmas time at least before it's fixed.

Re: Cablecom cracking down on dreambox owners?

We shall see. Am optimistic.
Fall back is Bluewin TV which carries the channels I want. For 29chf per month no issue. Cabelcom fills me with dread and would not go there.
So question - Bluewin or CC for essentially the same TV offering??

Re: Cablecom cracking down on dreambox owners?

My cable provider allows you to choose which digital receiver you use. I've a dreambox and it works fine.

Maybe Cablecom should change their business model.

I think you mistake the nature of the discussion.

Re: Cablecom cracking down on dreambox owners?

Rich- Why not get a subscription? With the deals they have at the moment it will cost you 20 or less a month to get their 160 channel package. The only channels you'll be missing are the pron, which I'm sure you can source elsewhere, the non-Swiss non-English foreign language channels (obviously life changing) and teleclub. I can understand losing teleclub being a pain for some, but you're not a religious football fan and you can get the films elsewhere.

I thought long and hard about getting a dreambox, but 20 a month vs 500 or so for the dreambox and all the hassle that comes with it, made me shell out for it. The cablecom box is an HD PVR now too.

Yeah I know it would be more simple, and at least I can sell the Dreambox with HD for not too much of a loss in the grand scheme of things. PLuss CC are doing a 3 for 2 thingy which evens it out, i'll see if I can get that too. http://www.cablecom.ch/en/b2c/3for2.htm

Is anyone using a CI+ card in a dreambox? Does anyone know whether this is possible?

I heard they changed the keys again, so just wait till someone manages to make a dump of the new card again and releases the new keys. Until then, Teleclub channels are still working.

I have it on good authority that the Dreambox keys are now amended, and back up and running... business as usual.
