Free Wi-Fi in Morges / Lausanne?

Hi,

Does anyone know of any places (i.e. cafés) that have free wi-fi in the Morges / Lausanne area that are open on Mondays and that won't mind someone sitting there with a laptop for several hours?

Preferably within walking distance of some form of public transport.

Thanks,

Victoria

The City of Lausanne provides a number of free hotspots, the only limiting factor will be finding a comfortable spot AND the duration of your battery. Use this link and scroll down a bit:

As well, Cafe de Grancy has free wifi but I'm sure they expect you to at least buy a coffee while you're sitting around. It's about 10 meters from Grancy M2 stop where Boulevard de Grancy forks into Avenue du Rond-Pont:

I'm sure the old-timers here can substantially add to this list...

If it has a Starbucks then that's your place.

All Starbucks Coffeehouses in Switzerland (with the exception of the Coffeehouse at Zurich Airport) now offer high-speed wireless internet access free of charge – surf the web with the same comfort and speed you have at home or at work.
Once logged in, you have got fast broadband access to the internet or to your company’s VPN, allowing you to send and retrieve emails, download files, prepare conferences, shop online, and much more.
Simply ask your barista for the WLAN voucher with your personal login.

WLAN internet access in the Starbucks Coffeehouse at Zurich Airport is operated by Unique (Flughafen Zurich AG). Service, prices and access information is available via the following link: WLAN Airport Zürich
What you need to access the wireless internet in a Starbucks Coffeehouse:
  • A Notebook or PDA with WLAN receiver
  • A Starbucks WLAN voucher or premium access product of Swisscom, sunrise or Orange.
The network and technical infrastructure is operated by tpn the public network ag, http://www.tpn.ch/

Source

The voucher is valid for 30 minutes only I think.

For UNLIMITED access whilst in Basel with lots of power sockets to charge your device etc., visit Unternehme Mitte a short stroll away from Marktplatz. No obligation to buy anything with generous space for its visitors. I use the venue to teach IT literacy, open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm.

Re: Free Wi-Fi in Morges / Lausanne?

McDonalds do free wifi - at the one by the station in Morges, it even reaches beyond the confines of the outdoor terrace to the paving area beyond.

You have to buy something in the first place to get the wifi code, then have a password sent to your mobile. Once you've done this, though, the login details last for six months, at all McDonalds (I've only tried Swiss ones, though).

So, 6 months' free wifi for the price of a coffee; not bad.

Both Java and Bleu Lézard (Métro: Bessières) have free WIFI, you just have to ask for a code. The system is more reliable than most café access points since it doesn't run out of DHCP leases, which is a really common problem.
