can you upgrade it with the new software that's on the DHD? i might prefer the more compact form-factor.
I think you will be able to shortly.

I've never understood why old iPhones are worth so much.
Because Apple haven't flooded the market with zillions of variants of their phones.

HTC: Wildfire, Hero, Legend, Desire, Desire HD, desire Z, Touch HD, Touch HD2, Touch Pro, Touch Diamond, Tattoo, Snap, P3470, 7 Mozart, 7 Trophy etc.. (and this is just the current generation )

Apple: iPhone > iPhone 3G > iPhone 3Gs > iPhone 4

iPhone 4 > iPhone > iPhone 3G > iPhone 3Gs

Would be my estimation. I like to be able to hold my phone any way I want

Otherwise I do agree with your point in principle.

Re: HTC Desire HD

Any idea where I can find a Desire HD at the moment? I'm looking for a birthday gift (for myself, of course :P)

Thanks!

Re: HTC Desire HD

My Desire was stolen by burglars :-(. Not to be too optimistic, but with the assurance money, I ordered a Desire HD from Digitec. It's supposed to arrive soon, hopefully next week.

I wanted to thank you, I made the decision (but for the HD and the non-HD) thanks to this forum.

Please, let me know if you want me to try something specific on the phone once I have it.

Bye!

Sergio

Hi Sergio,

Sorry to hear that you were robbed of your desire. I'm sure that the passing of time will enable you to rediscover it.

Regarding your telephone, could you try dropping it from a height of 1 metre onto a tiled floor. I'm interested to know if it survives and what kind of damage it sustains. The phone is the size to a brick and I was wondering if its dynamic behaviour was also similar.

Cheers

Actually, I've read some comments on that on pocketpc.ch - it seems to be rather durable, as long as it doesn't land directly on the glass. There were two people who dropped theirs and both said that the device is ok except for some dents. Don't try that with your iPhone 4, though.

Sure... I'll let you know if my wife does it again, as she did to my first Desire on the second day. Minor damages only, though.

Scree does indeed look very resistant. I think I won't buy a screen protector this time. Didn't like very much the touch with the first one.

Re: HTC Desire HD

I got my Desire HD from the Swisscom shop yesterday.
Initial impressions are "AWESOME".

Being a Nokia user, of course it takes a bit of time getting used to Android and the SenseUI, but after a while, everything becomes easy-peasy.

Very huge screen, good display.

My wife got an HTC Desire and I could see that HTC has made some improvements on the usability on the SenseUI, which is cool.

So far, I am impressed. We'll see how good it is for day to day use once I have it for a bit.

Among smartphones, the e71's battery life is still unrivaled. It doesn't have a touch screen and Symbian feels a bit dated, but for those who want basic smartphone functionalities and don't want to charge their phone every 2 days, it's still one of the best choices available.

Well, everything from a 3310 to a XpressMusic 5800 to an N95.

Dont get me wrong, I love Nokia phones, especially the N95. One of the best phones I ever had and ran without "any" problems for 3 odd years before I gave it to someone and they have had no problems with it either.

But then, Im leaning more towards Andriod based phones now and HTC has some neat stuff. I like this phone a lot already and I only have it for a day. HTC has really put effort into making this phone user-friendly.

Re: HTC Desire HD

Dear HTC Desire HD 'techies',
I have had my Desire HD for about a week. I really like it. But I have a couple of questions. When I'm at home will my phone automatically use the wifi? I have given it the password, so I'm hoping it will and also if I go to any available wifi enviroment.
My second question is I can't set up my email accounts. I have a couple, one yahoo.co.uk and the other hotmail.com. I have search the internet and tried a couple of different ways.
Any hints will be gratefully received.
Thanks

Regarding WIFI - yes it should, but always check if you don't have an unlimited data plan. Regarding email, take it into the store, hand it over and get them to set up your email. I did that with my blackberry before at orange and they were more than happy to.

Hi,

if you keep the WiFi turned on, it should automatically connect when you get home. When it's connected, it'll display the Wifi sign instead of the "E" next to the bars indicating how good your reception is.

As for e-mail: both should be quite straight forward. You need to open the Mail app (not GMail - that's for Google mail accounts) and add the accounts there. Both hotmail and yahoo accounts have pre-sets in the mail app so you don't usually need to enter any server info except for your e-mail address and your password. It's hard to do this over the net in a forum - I'd suggest you take economisto's advice and have the mail account set up for you by your provider.

Peter

Re: HTC Desire HD

Thank you for your help. I went into Sunrise and the gentleman sorted me out regarding my emails, it took about 10 minutes.

Incase someone is reading this with the same problem. I went to the Sunrise shop beside McDonalds near Zürich HB and was told I could drop my phone off in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. Yeah right. I declined the offer and went to my local shop in Adliswil.

It is delayed everywhere... the only place that shows stock is here http://mobile-expert.ch/catalog/prod...oducts_id=3888

Youd best ring them to check availability though.
