I ordered 2 HTC DHD's from digitec on 28th and 29th Sept and am still sitting here like a numpty waiting for it after being told every 2 weeks... another 2 weeks! Just phoned this morning (as its said Ende november for a few weeks now) and they've said another 2 weeks.. mid December... does anyone know another place in or around Zurich that has them in stock unlocked please? Does anyone else have the same prob?
Thanks

Or you could order from your local swisscom shop.
I got mine within a few days and almost a week earlier than expected.
Helps if you have a contract with them though.
Dear HTC Desire HD 'techies',
I have had my Desire HD for about a week. I really like it. But I have a couple of questions. When I'm at home will my phone automatically use the wifi? I have given it the password, so I'm hoping it will and also if I go to any available wifi enviroment.
My second question is I can't set up my email accounts. I have a couple, one yahoo.co.uk and the other hotmail.com. I have search the internet and tried a couple of different ways.
Any hints will be gratefully received.
Thanks
Keep an eye on the battery usage while on wifi. The battery drains rather quickly when using wifi.
So ... seems the HTC Desire HD gets the thumb-up from most people, then. Anything better on the horizon?
By the way, I have used a product called Invisible Skin on a few mobile phones and cameras for several years now. This is not a standard screen protector. It's an incredibly tough and very thin plastic cover that is very precisely custom-cut to the specifications of your gadget and adheres to it (all over, if you want) to provide unbelievable protection from scratches. It won't prevent dents if you drop the item, but it definitely protects the screen and casing against scratches. It really is as good as its manufacturers claim. For US$25 for all-over coverage of your new phone, it's absolutely worth it. They used to offer free shipping worldwide but apparently don't, any more -- it's an extra US$6 for airmail.
Invisible Shield is not easy to apply (it takes me half an hour or more, just to make sure there are no bubbles under the plastic), but the time investment really pays off. If you can wait the extra couple of days to receive and apply the Invisible Skin before you use your new phone (or, of course, pre-order it), it's well worth while!
I'm not affiliated with Zagg in any way. Honest. I just love the product and think that $31 is cheap insurance.
Three of the links you give are for those thicker screen protectors. The other two (the first and third listed in your edit) are the Invisible Shield, the same product as in my post (one covers the display only, the other is for full body coverage). I didn't know the product is available in stores now -- that's great. At CHF 39 for the full body kit, it's probably worth it for the instant gratification (mail-order price is around CHF 31).
Thanks @ashishshah .. I ended up receiving it 2 days after writing the last message.
Loving the phone but the battery drainage is horrific! I've bought a spare battery v cheap from ebay so i have an emergency backup.
Used the google navigation in my car which was WAY better than my cars satnav and google goggles app is outstanding.
Still very glad to have switched away from iphone
Cheers

Inbuilt SatNav is really great. I have not used it too much but it is really nice. And the maps come preloaded for Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria and France, I think.
Regarding battery, yes that's true. Drainage is horrific. You can keep it a bit in check by switching off wi-fi, GPS and Bluetooth. I got more than a day of usage this way.
you're talking about the Desire, not the Desire HD, right?
I'm not getting any upgrade for the HD
Yes just the Desire. I know wrong thread but blame Econo

Details? I've found them to be fantastic, every time. Just hard to apply.
They are hard to apply
They have that orange peal effect
They aren't as thin as other screen protectors.
When I had my iPhone it was near on impossible to apply the Zagg around the curves of the device. It ended up peeling at the edges after a couple of weeks.
A very rubbery feel to them. Makes touch screens not feel as nice or be as responsive.
I know it's there. I prefer a screen protector that just sits there and I use the phone as normal. I know there is a zagg on my phone when there is.
I don't like to spray my expensive device with copious amounts of that spray.
Can be quite difficult to remove if you don't have a hair dryer handy. And again I prefer not blow hot air onto my expensive device.
I like to use martin fields protectors. VERY easy to apply but they do scratch very easily. The screen protector that is not the phone. I tried the official HTC ones as well. You can get two in a pack for £3 off amazon. But they aren't cut very well and the fit isn't great (something that I found on occasions with Zagg as well)
That's just my opinion on Zagg . Their customer service is great . I wish they wouldn't use so much packing though, it really is a waste
This user would like to thank for this useful post:
For those of you using the Navigation on the Desire HD, have you worked out how to change the default voice? I bought mine in the UK and so get an annoying American lady who mis-pronounces the street names so badly that its off putting. Would like to change to a German voice - have downloaded but I don't know how to change.
