Otherwise, a very nice machine.
So, apart from the fact you can't type on it, it crashes, and you can't shut it down, it's a nice machine. I guess what you mean is ... it looks nice

Am still likely to buy one though, but not for me (yet).

Re: Apple store in Bahnhofstrasse Zürich

Happy to report all hunky dory on the 11' version - no OS crashes, no app hanging. Still find I can type fluently (?) even with my clown hands.

Oh, it looks nice too

Man people are so wonky when it comes to discussing Apple products.

My only point is that OS X is not flawless as people would have you believe. And Windows in its current incarnation is not as bad as people would have you believe.

P.S. It was my gf's laptop that had the issues.
P.P.S I can type fine, just not at 120wpm like I am used to. Give me a week to adjust

Re: New MacBook Air [Thread Split]

Just picked up the maxed out model last night. Glad I went for the 13" as it's small enough as it is (compared to my old 15" MBPro).

Wish me luck on the Timecapsule restore. I have just enough space with 13 GB to spare

I'd highly recommend it so far, keyboard even on 11" is very usable if you can live with the screen. I'd probably have gone for the 11" if it was av. in 1.83 GHz and 256 GB config as I have a 24" Display at home for normal use.

A lot of people were trying to decide which one to get last night. What was surprising was that the Bahnhofstr. store in ZH has all models and configs even BTOs.

i dont think air is really that usefull, i mean if u use the disk you have to purchase the superdrive seperaty, and it takes some space, so the whole point of being compact is ruined

True IF you plan on dragging the external drive with you everywhere but the point of the MBA is that you've already loaded any programs you need and the rest can be done via wireless when out and about. It's been several months since the last time I needed to connect my superdrive to my MBA. But IF you absolutely need a cd/dvd drive on your laptop then you really should be looking at a MBP.

I prefer to save the weight. I buy most of my media online now and software is increasingly online (sure I burn a backup disk but it's a backup).

I just wish they'd kept the infra red sensor and backlit keyboard. The 13" is definitely a normal user's desktop replacement.

Re: New MacBook Air [Thread Split]

Up until now I haven't needed a laptop so was just reading this thread as I want to get a MacBook Air. Anyone looking to sell one or knows where I can get a good deal pretty please? (need it asap for a trip)
