Anybody know of a functioning, reliable, software to read / download data from an old SIM card?

EF user JaneyW was very kind and sent me the USB reader dongle.... however after having spent close to one hour googling here and there, often landing on questionable sites, and after having searched versiontracker.com (which seems to be awfully slow and stuck to the directory of PeeCee programs... WTF?) I'm still at the starting point.

Any indication is *highly* appreciated!
